Lorna Simpson: Source Notes is the first exhibition to fully consider the artist’s work in painting, dating from 2014 to the present. Our design provides a centered, grounded base on which Simpson’s complex works can be seen. And just as these pieces place imagery from archival sources into a new context, we chose a font—The Future (by Klim Type Foundry)—that itself is a recontextualization of the classic font Futura.
